Topic 1. How do you like to spend time with your grandparents?
I love spending time with my grandparents. My grandfather tells me amazing stories about his childhood and also helps me with my homework. My grandmother is a great cook, and she always makes my favourite snacks when I visit. I enjoy going for an evening walk with them in the park. They teach me many good values and I feel very happy and safe with them.
Topic 2. What would you like to see if you were to visit a science museum?
If I were to visit a science museum, I would first like to see the exhibit on dinosaurs. I am also very curious about space, so I would definitely visit the planetarium to see the models of planets and stars. I would like to see the models of different aircraft and learn how they fly. I would also like to see the section on the human body and how different organs work. Finally, I would love to try all the interactive experiments.
Topic 3. Where would you like to take your grandfather on a holiday? What will be the special things to see and do there?
I would like to take my grandfather on a holiday to Amritsar. He has told me many stories about the city, so I know he would love to visit the Golden Temple. We would also enjoy the famous Amritsari kulchas and lassi.
Topic 4. Who is your favourite cook among men in the family? Which dishes does he prepare that you relish the most?
My favourite cook among the men in my family is my father. He usually cooks on Sundays, and he makes fantastic food. The dish I relish the most is the ‘rajma-chawal’ he prepares. He also makes very tasty ‘paneer tikka’ on the tawa. Sometimes he helps my mother and makes a great salad with fruits and vegetables. I love it when my father cooks for us.
Activity 10

What do you think? Should Baljit learn the art of Phulkari embroidery?
Yes, I definitely think Baljit should learn the art of Phulkari embroidery. A hobby or a skill has no gender. If he is passionate about it and loves to do it, he should absolutely be encouraged to learn. It is wrong to tease someone for being interested in art.
How can you explain to Baljit’s family to let him learn the art?
I would explain the following points to Baljit’s family:
- Skill Has No Gender: I would gently explain that skills like cooking, painting, or embroidery are for everyone, not just for girls. Many of the world’s most famous fashion designers and artists are men.
- Preserving Heritage: Phulkari is a beautiful and very important part of our Punjabi culture. Baljit’s interest is a wonderful thing because he will help keep this traditional art alive.
- It Makes Him Happy: The most important thing is that learning embroidery makes Baljit happy. We should always support our family members in pursuing hobbies that bring them joy.
- Potential for a Career: This is a valuable skill. This hobby could even become a successful career for him in the future in the world of fashion or textiles.
- It’s a Good Quality: Having patience and creativity to do needlework is a very good quality, and he should be proud of it, not teased.
